BACKGROUND Atrioesophageal fistula is a potentially fatal complication of ablation in the left atrium (LA) to treat atrial fibrillation. OBJECTIVE The objective of our study was to systematically evaluate the diagnostic potential of intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) for accurately assessing the esophageal course along the posterior LA.
