Abstract In the blue flowers of Italian bellflower ( Campanula isophylla Moretti), the formation of anthocyanins progresses from simple unacylated anthocyanins, delphinidin 3–glucoside and bisdeacylplatyconin, through a series of progressively-acylated and glycosylated compounds, including diacylated violdelphin and monodeacylcampanin, to the triacylated campanin. In this study, anthocyanin and flavone contents were very low in buds until a few days before anthesis, after which they increased… Expand
Changes in Flower Coloration and Sepal Anthocyanins of Cyanic Delphinium Cultivars during Flowering
TLDR
The changes in flower color related to sepal pigmentation of cyanic Delphinium cultivars were investigated during anthesis and acylation of the anthocyanins was initiated by an increase in the respective possible precursors, tulipanin and violdelphin, to subsequently synthesize violdELphin (3) and cyanodelphIn (4) during flowering. Expand
Inter-population and inter-organ distribution of the main polyphenolic compounds of Epilobium angustifolium.
TLDR
The levels of oenothein B and A in the plant are not interdependent but that their relative abundance is constant within a population, as shown by the interpopulational variability of most polyphenols. Expand
Ellagic acid and anthocyanin profiles in fruits of raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) in different ripening stages
The content of free ellagic acid (FEA) and the anthocyanin profile were determined in “Autumn Bliss” variety red raspberry fruits (Rubus idaeus L) in different ripening stages and grown in twoExpand
Differential accumulation of pelargonidin glycosides in petals at three different developmental stages of the orange-flowered gentian (Gentiana lutea L. var. aurantiaca)
TLDR
This study investigates the regulation, content and type of anthocyanins determining the petal coloration of the orange-flowered G. lutea L. var. Expand
Investigation of Anthocyanin Localization in Various Parts of Impatiens Balsamina L.
TLDR
It was seen that the pigment accumulates more in the upper parts of the nodes on the stem, and that the amount of anthocyanin was significantly less in the internodes than in the nodes. Expand
Physiological and Anatomical Investigation of Flower Colors of Primula vulgaris L.
TLDR
It has been physiologically and anatomically proved that anthocyanin existed more at the root, at the basal part of the spatulate leaf, and at the base of the long flower stalk, and was synthesized more in the abaxial and adaxial epidermal cells in the flower petal. Expand
Variation in phenolic composition and antioxidant activity during flower development of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.).
TLDR
Findings underline the potential health benefits as a result of consuming C. tinctorius flowers and suggest that it could be used as valuable flavor with functional properties for food or nutraceutical products on the basis of the high polyphenol contents and antioxidant activities. Expand
Possible involvement of some secondary metabolites in salt tolerance of sugarcane.
TLDR
The increased synthesis of PHE, ANT and FLA seems to protect sugarcane from ion-induced oxidative stress, probably due to a common structural skeleton, the phenyl group, of those metabolites. Expand
Analysis of Various Floral Components at Different Developmental Stages of the Flower
TLDR
Physiological and biochemical alteration of pigment during flower development plays a major role on International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences. Expand
Anthocyanin stability studies in Tibouchina semidecandra L.
TLDR
The study shows that suitable storage condition for coloured anthocyanin pigments in extracted form is in acidic conditions in the dark, implying the potential usage of coloured Anthocyanins as natural food colourants and shelf life indicator for acidic foods. Expand

Flavonol Synthase Activity and the Regulation of Flavonol and Anthocyanin Biosynthesis during Flower Development in Dianthus caryophyllus L. (Carnation)
TLDR
The competition of FLS and DFR for dihydroflavonols was found to be largely circumvented by different substrate specificities and by the sequential expression of the two enzymes. Expand
Flavonoid biosynthesis in flower petals of five lines of lisianthus (Eustoma grandiflorum Grise.)

Survey of Peonidin Glycosides in Garden Snapdragons and Changes in Anthocyanin Contents during Floral Development
TLDR
Four anthocyanins were isolated from the reddish-purple flowers of Antirrhinum majus L., the authors' genetical stock (CCAp), which had been obtained by crossing between 'Floral Carpet Red' and strain A from 'Ball's Supreme Red' by chromatographic and spectral methods. Expand
Relationship between Flower Development, Anthocyanin Accumulation and Activity o f Enzymes Involved in Flavonoid Biosynthesis in Matthiola incana R. Br
TLDR
Although all maxima of activity proved to be in buds, clear differences were observed between the five enzymes with regard to increase and stage of maximum activity and the isolation of other enzymes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis is likely to be most successful in the bud stages. Expand

Anthocyanin Formation in the Petals of Hibiscus mutabilis L
TLDR
Anthocyanin synthesis depends on the de novo production of cinnamic acid, and during the rapid phase of pigment accumulation, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase activity in the petals increases rapidly to seven times its initial level and then decreases while the flower senesces. Expand
Temporal and spatial control of expression of anthocyanin biosynthetic genes in developing flowers of Antirrhinum majus
TLDR
The data presented here suggest that the same regulatory mechanism interprets these signals for four of the genes encoding the later biosynthetic enzymes, but that different or modified mechanisms interpret the signals to control expression of chal cone synthase and chalcone isomerase genes in Antirrhinum flowers.
