We analyze high signal-to-noise spectrophotometric observations acquired simul- taneously with TWIN, a double-arm spectrograph, from 3400 to 10400u of three star-forming regions in the Hii galaxy SDSS J165712.75+321141.4. We have measured four line temperatures: Te((Oiii)), Te((Siii)), Te((Oii)), and Te((Sii)), with high preci- sion, rms errors of order 2%, 5%, 6% and 6%, respectively, for the brightest region, and slightly worse for the other two. The temperature measurements allowed the…
Effective temperature of ionizing stars of extragalactic H ii regions
The effective temperature (Teff) of the radiation field of the ionizing star(s) of a large sample of extragalactic HII regions was estimated using the R= log([OII](3727)/[OIII]5007) index. We used a
Auto-consistent metallicity and star formation history of the nearest blue compact dwarf galaxy NGC 6789
We present a detailed auto-consistent study of the nearest blue compact dwarf galaxy NGC 6789 by means of optical and ultraviolet (UV) archive photometry data and optical long-slit Intermediate
Discrepancies between the [O iii] and [S iii] temperatures in H ii regions
Context. Analysis of published [O iii ]a nd [Siii] temperatures measurements of emission line objects consisting of Hii galaxies, giant extragalactic Hii regions, Galactic Hii regions, and Hii
Effective temperature of ionizing stars in extragalactic H iiregions – II. Nebular parameter relationships based on CALIFA data
We calculate the effective temperature ($T_{\rm eff}$) of ionizing star(s), oxygen abundance of the gas phase $(\rm O/H)$, and the ionization parameter $U$ for a sample of H\,{\sc ii} regions located
Optical and mid-infrared neon abundance determinations in star-forming regions
We employed observational spectroscopic data of star-forming regions compiled from the literature and photoionization models to analyse the neon ionic abundances obtained using both optical and
Eliminating error in the chemical abundance scale for extragalactic H ii regions
In an attempt to remove the systematic errors which have plagued the calibration of the Hii region abundance sequence, we have theoretically modeled the extragalactic Hii region sequence. We then
Tidal interaction, star formation and chemical evolution in blue compact dwarf galaxy Mrk 22
The optical spectroscopic and radio interferometric HI 21 cm-line observations of the blue compact dwarf galaxy Mrk 22 are presented. The Wolf-Rayet (WR) emission line features corresponding to high
Complex gas kinematics in compact, rapidly assembling star-forming galaxies
Deep, high-resolution spectroscopic observations have been obtained for six compact, strongly star-forming galaxies at redshift z ~ 0.1-0.3, most of them also known as green peas. Remarkably, these
Optical spectroscopy of star-forming regions in dwarf Wolf–Rayet galaxies
We present here spatially-resolved optical spectroscopic observations of four nearby dwarf Wolf-Rayet (WR) galaxies. The ages of the most recent starburst events in these galaxies are found between 3
Sulphur abundance determinations in star-forming regions - I. Ionization correction factor
In the present work we used a grid of photoionization models combined with stellar population synthesis models to derive reliable Ionization Correction Factors (ICFs) for the sulphur in star-forming

Precision abundance analysis of bright H ii galaxies
We present high signal-to-noise ratio spectrophotometric observations of seven luminous H ii galaxies. The observations have been made with the use of a double-arm spectrograph which provides spectra
Line temperatures and elemental abundances in H ii galaxies
We present long-slit spectrophotometric observations in the red and near-infrared of 12 H II galaxies. The spectral range includes the sulphur lines [S II] at λλ6716,6731 and [S III] at λ6312 and
The temperature and ionization structure of the emitting gas in H ii galaxies: implications for the accuracy of abundance determinations
We propose a methodology to perform a self-consistent analysis of the physical properties of the emitting gas of H ii galaxies adequate to the data that can be obtained with the 21st century
SBS 0335–052, A Probable Nearby Young Dwarf Galaxy: Evidence Pro and Con*
The results of Multiple Mirror Telescope spectrophotometry of the extremely low metallicity blue compact galaxy (BCG) SBS 0335-052 (SBS—the Second Byurakan Survey) are presented. The oxygen abundance
Massive star formation in Wolf-Rayet galaxies - IV. Colours, chemical-composition analysis and metallicity–luminosity relations
Aims. We have performed a comprehensive multiwavelength analysis of a sample of 20 starburst galaxies that show a substantial population of very young massive stars, most of them classified as
Disentangling the metallicity and star formation history of H ii galaxies through tailor‐made models
We present a self-consistent study of the stellar populations and the ionized gas in a sample of 10 H ii galaxies with, at least, four measured electron temperatures and a precise determination of
Kinematics of gas and stars in the circumnuclear star-forming ring of NGC 3351
We have measured gas and stellar velocity dispersions in five circumnuclear star-forming regions (CNSFRs) and the nucleus of the barred spiral galaxy NGC 3351. The stellar dispersions have been
Chemical abundances and ionizing clusters of H ii regions in the LINER galaxy NGC 4258
We present long-slit observations in the optical and near infrared of eight H II regions in the spiral galaxy NGC 4258. Six of the observed regions are located in the SE inner spiral arms and the
