Lake Dianchi is the largest freshwater lake on the Yunnan Plateau and the sixth largest one in China. In recent decades, a number of non-native fish species have been introduced into the lake intentionally or accidentally while human-accelerated eutrophication has been occurring. In this study, we provided a whole-lake assessment of species composition and abundance of the accidentally-introduced fishes, and described the spatial variability of invasive small fish community in relation to eight…
Effects of human-induced eutrophication on macroinvertebrate spatiotemporal dynamics in Lake Dianchi, a large shallow plateau lake in China
TLDR
The results of this study will be beneficial for restoring and managing hypereutrophic lakes in the Yungui Plateau and imply the necessity of long-term monitoring in bioassessment projects involving intensively disturbed lakes.
The spatial pattern of larval fish assemblages in the lower reach of the Yangtze River: potential influences of river–lake connectivity and tidal intrusion
TLDR
It is suggested that the larger number of species and higher abundance of larval fish at AQ reflect the effects of the connectivity of Poyang Lake with the river upstream of AQ, and the delayed bloom of larvae fish and the occurrence of estuarine species at JJ reflect the influences of tidal intrusion from the estuary.
Spatio-temporal variability of periphytic protozoa related to environment in the Niyang River, Tibet, China
TLDR
The relationship between periphytic protozoa diversity and the environmental factors of the Niyang River can be predicted using classification and regression trees (CART) annalysis, which suggests that the total abundance and Shannon-Wiener diversity index would be higher when the elevation is above 3 308 m and lower when pH and ammoniacal nitrogen have lower or higher values.
Linking environmental factors, life history and population density in the endangered freshwater snail Margarya melanioides (Viviparidae) in Lake Dianchi, China
TLDR
The results not only support the significance of eutrophication in determination of life-history traits of freshwater animals, but also suggest that density-dependent effects on reproduction may be stronger than direct environmental influences when population size is small.
Biodiversity pattern of fish assemblages in Poyang Lake Basin: Threat and conservation
TLDR
The results indicated that fish biodiversity declined in the current period likely caused by anthropogenic habitat alteration and other threatened factors, and it is suggested that the habitat reconstruction and biodiversity conservation for fish have become imperative in this basin, and a complete management plan should be carried out.
Assemblage Structure of the Ichthyoplankton and Its Relationship With Environmental Factors in Spring and Autumn off the Pearl River Estuary
Ichthyoplankton assemblages and their relationship with environmental variables are investigated in waters off the Pearl River Estuary in spring and autumn of 2019. Of 80 ichthyoplankton taxa
Spatial distribution and ecological assessment of nickel in sediments of a typical small plateau lake from Yunnan Province, China
TLDR
P pH and TOC were found to have a strong effect on the distribution and concentration of nickel and its fractions in the small plateau lake and strong spatial dependence among pH, TOC, and the oxidizable fraction was revealed.
Predicting impacts of south‐to‐north water transfer project on fish assemblages in Hongze Lake, China
TLDR
As the SNWTP is forecasted to modify the distribution of water depth and water clarity, major knock-on effects are expected on downstream lake fish assemblages, which are assessed here using Self-Organizing Map (SOM) and Random Forest (RF) modeling.
Feeding ecology of Acrossocheilus yunnanensis (Regan, 1904), a dominant fish in the headwaters of the Chishui River, a tributary of the Yangtze River
TLDR
Analysis on Amundsen graph and niche breadth index indicated that A. yunnanensis might pursue an opportunistic and moderately generalized feeding strategy, which could explain why it has become the dominant fish species in the study area.

Status and historical changes in the fish community in Erhai Lake
TLDR
The abundance of indigenous species has declined sharply, and a majority of endemic species have been extirpated from the lake, in contrast, the number of exotic species has increased since the 1960s to a total of 22 at present.
Variations of fish composition and diversity related to environmental variables in shallow lakes in the Yangtze River basin
Variations in fish communities of shallow lakes in the Yangtze basins were investigated from September 2007 to September 2009. Six lakes were chosen for comparative study of species composition and

Habitat segregation between two congeneric and introduced goby species.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that the two congeneric and introduced goby species occupy distinct habitats, indicating that spatial segregation enables coexistence of the two invasive species at high abundances within an ecosystem.
