Objectives: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous disease with diverse genetic abnormalities present in all ages, but mainly prevalent in an elderly population with an average age of above 60 years. The treatment of elderly AML remains a formidable challenge as the long-term outcomes of elderly AML patients have not improved in the last three decades, with ≤5% overall survival recorded at 5 years, calling for novel treatment options.
