Background: Pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iCMs) represent a potential therapeutic to restore the injured myocardium; however, little is known about the underlying mechanism of action. Longitudinal studies of iCMs to treat myocardial injury (MI) show low engraftment despite significant functional restoration.
