Abundant evidence, including critical information gathered by Prof. Siegfried Hoyer and his colleagues, indicates that abnormalities of cerebral metabolism are common in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Alterations in mitochondrial enzymes likely underlie these deficits.
