In the present work, the bacterial mannitol-1-phosphodehydrogenase(mtlD) gene was introduced into eggplant(Solanummelongena L.) by Agrobacteriumtumefaciens-mediated transformation. Several transformants weregenerated and the transgene integration was confirmed by PCR, dot blot andSouthern blot analysis.
