In this paper a new approach to the analysis of test results for circuit breakers is discussed. It is implemented through new software called Automated Circuit Breaker Monitoring system ACBM. The circuit breaker performance is evaluated based on the analysis of Digital Fault Recorder (DFR) recordings taken from circuit breaker control circuitry. This paper describes the testing procedure and usage of the software from the user’s standpoint. It also explains the software architecture and…

This paper describes how new functions for automated analysis of data collected in substations of an electric power system can be developed. The new functions are first defined and architecture of
Facilitating Restoration After System-Wide Disturbances Using Automated Analysis
The paper focuses on new concepts in automating analysis of all the IED data recorded in substations. It addresses the main requirements for enabling integration of existing and deployment of new
Requirements Specification for and Evaluation of an Automated Substation Monitoring System
This paper presents functional requirements for the Automated Analysis Substation System (AASS) implemented at Texas A&M University, aimed at monitoring functions using data measured by multiple
Automated Monitoring and Control Using New Data Integration Paradigm
A new paradigm for data integration is introduced where the substation field data recorded by monitoring and protection Intelligent Electronic Devices is used to supplement Remote Terminal Unit data for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which improves SCADA and other applications.
Robust topology determination based on additional substation data from IEDs
This paper describes an approach for more robust power system topology determination using additional substation data currently not available through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
Developing Future Substation Automation Strategies: Selecting Appropriate IEDs and Developing New Applications
It is pointed out that most of the new applications require unconventional use of data and information to yield specific benefits, which will justify the use of substation automation systems.
