Two species of the Rosaceae genus Geum, comprising high amounts of tannins and phenolic acids, were investigated in terms of their antioxidant activity. Antioxidant potential of different extracts from aerial and underground parts of Geum rivale and G. urbanum was studied using various in vitro methods (FC, DPPH, FRAP and linoleic acid peroxidation test). The hydromethanolic extract from the roots of G. rivale with high total phenolic content of 17.48% was proven to be about twice as effective… Expand

Antimicrobial and antioxidant potential of different solvent extracts of the medicinal plant Geum urbanum L.
TLDR
The methanol extracts of the roots and aerial parts of G. urbanum and their fractions were investigated for antibacterial and radical scavenging activity and revealed that G.urbanum L. is a perspective medicinal plant and deserves further, more detailed studies. Expand
Insight into the Secondary Metabolites of Geum urbanum L. and Geum rivale L. Seeds (Rosaceae)
TLDR
The seeds of G. urbanum and G. rivale are demonstrated to be a valuable source of unsaturated fatty acids and bioactive phenolics, which might be exploited for nutritional and cosmetic products and for phytotherapeutic purposes. Expand
Scientific basis for the industrialization of traditionally used plants of the Rosaceae family.
TLDR
An ethnobotanical review about the bioactive compounds of Rosaceae family plants and their different bioactivities, both studied in vitro and in vivo is performed. Expand
Effect of the storage at low temperatures on the germination and antioxidant activity of Geum urbanum seeds
The effect of low temperatures (chilling 4o and freezing -75oC) on germination and antioxidant activity of medicinal Geum urbanum seeds was investigated. In the recent years, the interest for theExpand
Two new flavonol-bis-3,7-glucuronides from Geum rivale L
Abstract Two undescribed flavonol-bis-3,7-O-β-D-glucuronide derivatives - kaempferol-bis-3,7-O-β-D-glucuronide (1) and isorhamnetin-bis-3,7-O-β-D-glucuronide (2) have been isolated from the aerialExpand
