Study of the antimicrobial potentials of Allium cepa revealed that all the extracts from both fresh and old samples showed different ranges of antimicrobial activities. Ethyl acetate fraction showed inhibitory activities against all the 8 microbes tested including bacteria and a fungus. Chloroform followed by butanol fraction also inhibited the activity of all the microbes except Pseudomonas aeruginosa which was highly resistant. Petroleum ether fraction was effective at both lower and higher… Expand

In Vitro antimicrobial activity of Allium cepa (dry bulbs) against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and fungi.
TLDR
Analysis of the data revealed that all the extracts from dry bulbs showed different ranges of antimicrobial activities, and Staphylococcus aureus was the most susceptible bacteria and the most resistant Gram negative bacteria were Pseudomonas aeurginosa and Salmonella typhi. Expand
Antimicrobial potentials of Mentha longifolia by disc diffusion method.
TLDR
Klebsiella pneumoniae was the most susceptible gram negative bacterium and Salmonella typhi was highly resistant among the gram negative bacteria and all fractions showed antifungal activities against Candida albicans except water extracted samples. Expand
Antimicrobial activity of different solvent extracted samples from the flowers of medicinally important Plumeria obstusa.
TLDR
The present research work was carried out to investigate the antimicrobial activities of different solvent extracted samples from flowers of P. obstusa by disc diffusion method and found the most susceptible gram positive bacterium was Bacillus subtilis which was inhibited by all the five extracts while the most resistant gram positive bacteria was Staphylococcus aureus. Expand
Screening of leaves extracts from Calamus aromaticus for their antimicrobial activity by disc diffusion assay.
TLDR
Staphylococcus aureus revealed maximum susceptibility among gram positive bacteria and Bacillus subtilis showed minimum and Citorbacter freundii was more susceptibile while Xanthomonas campestris revealed resistively. Expand

ANTIMICROBIAL AND SYNERGISTIC STUDIES OF RANUNCULUS MURICATUS L. AGAINST SOME INDIGENOUS BACTERIA
TLDR
Synergistic antibacterial activity of methanolic extracts was tested with respect to solvent extract of leaves of Ricinus communis, Nerium oleander, Withania somnifera, whole plant of Heliotropiaum curassavicum and fruits of Citrullus colocynthis and revealed the best antib bacterial activity against B. subtilis and B. pumilus. Expand
ANTIMICROBIAL POTENTIAL OF THE LEAVES, BRANCHES AND PEELS OF SOME MEDICINAL PLANTS AGAINST VARIOUS PATHOGENIC MICROORGANISMS
TLDR
Among the tested medicinal plants, Punica granatum peels and Allium cepa were found to be effective against all pathogenic bacteria andPolylthia longifolia leaves inhibit the pathogenic cultures at the concentration of 20 mg/ mL. Expand
Antimicrobial and anti-oxidant potential of Periploca hydaspidis
The present study investigates antimicrobial and anti-oxidant potential of different solvent extracted samples from Periploca hydaspidis through disc diffusion assay. The data revealed that all theExpand
Antimicrobial potentials of Catharanthus roseus by disc diffusion assay.
TLDR
The present research work investigates the in vitro antimicrobial activity of different solvent extracted samples from the aerial parts of C. roseus against different microbial species using disc diffusion assay at two different concentrations of 1 and 2 mg disc-1. Expand
In vitro antimicrobial activities of different solvent extracted samples from Iris germinica.
TLDR
It can be concluded that different solvent extracted samples from the leaves of I. germinica possess varying degree of antimicrobial against different micro-organisms and can be a good sources of antibiotics for the treatment of certain bacterial and fungal diseases. Expand
