In the present study the ethanolic extract of the seeds of Trigonella foenum graecum was prepared and evaluated for antimicrobial activity against eight bacterial strains by determining minimum inhibitory concentration and zone of inhibition. Minimum inhibitory concentration values were compared with control and zone of inhibition values were compared with standard tetracycline in concentration (20 μg/ml and 100 μg/ml). The result revealed that the ethanolic extract is potent in inhibiting…

Biological effect of Lawsonia inermis plant

The antimicrobial effectiveness of Lawsonia inermis plant extract was compared and the lower values of absorbance at the wavelength of 260 nm with increasing the concentration of crude alcoholic extract reveled the ability of henna extract in the removal of free radicals liberated from photolysis of hydrogen peroxide compound.

ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF MIMOSA PUDICA THORNS

The present study concludes that the phytoconstituents might have contributed the antimicrobial activity of Mimosa Pudica and further studies can be made on the plant derived antimicrobials.

ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF LAWSONIA INERMIS L.LEAVE EXTRACTS ON STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS ISOLATES

The antibacterial activity of the aqueous, ethanolic and methanolic extracts of Lawsonia inermis (henna) leaves were tested against 46 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from raw milk, also

Effect of extraction solvents on antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of fenugreek seeds (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.)

The present study was aimed to investigate the efficacy of fenugreek seeds as a potential natural source of antioxidants and antimicrobials. Fenugreek seed (FS) extracts were prepared using ethanol

Phytosphere Microbiology and Antimicrobial Efficacy of Trigonella foenum-graecum L.

Attempts have been made to evaluate the beneficiary effects of the phytosphere microbiota on the host plant but their products of metabolism remained poorly known, which could be an open area of research for developing novel bioactive compounds for pharmaceutical as well as biotechnological applications.

Trigonella foenum -graecum: A review on its traditional uses, phytochemistry and pharmacology

Evaluation of in vitro antimicrobial effect of combinations of erythromycin and Euphorbia hirta leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus

In vitro combined effects of erythromycin and methanol extract of leaves of Euphorbia hirta against clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus indicate that some combinations of the extract with erystromycin could be synergistic in activity for some ratio combinations and indifferent for some others.

Isolation, characterization and antimicrobial activity of marine halophilic Actinopolyspora species AH1 from the west coast of India

The Actinopolyspora species AH1 isolated from the marine sediment showed resistance to clindamycin, vancomycin, nalixidic acid and streptomycin antibiotics, and showed good antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis and antifungal activities against Aspergillus niger.

Assessment of genetic diversity in Trigonella foenum-graecum and Trigonella caerulea using ISSR and RAPD markers

Higher diversity was observed in Trigonella caerulea as compared to Trig onella foenum-graecum, and the genetic similarity matrices generated by ISSR and RAPD markers in both species were highly correlated indicating congruence between these two systems.
