X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) was used for the determination of bismuth content in a Pepto-Bismol brand antacid tablet. Three unknowns tablet obtained from the internet purported to be Pepto-Bismol tablet were investigated for bismuth content and the unknown tablet 2 was found to be a counterfeit product due to the absence of bismuth in its spectra during the investigation, in comparison to the official Pepto-Bismol tablet. Standard addition method and external calibration method were…

X-ray fluorescence determination of adsorbed copper on activated charcoal after glycerin complexation

X-This work shows an alternative method to copper determination by X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). Since copper concentration in natural waters is not enough to reach XRF detection limit, a liquid-solid

Assessing the quality of anti-malarial drugs from Gabonese pharmacies using the MiniLab®: a field study

TLDR
The prevalence of poor-quality anti-malarial drugs in Gabon using the GPHF Minilab®, is far lower than anticipated, and the findings emphasize the need for randomized and robust sampling methods in order to collect representative data on anti- malarial drug quality.

Post-marketing surveillance of anti-malarial medicines used in Malawi

TLDR
The results suggest the existence of substandard anti-malarial medicines in Malawi with the presence of both excessive and insufficient artemisinin-based and non-artemisinIn-based API, clearly points to poor adherence to GMP and improper handling during storage or distribution.

Estimated Under-Five Deaths Associated with Poor-Quality Antimalarials in Sub-Saharan Africa

TLDR
The number of under-five deaths caused by ineffective treatment of malaria associated with consumption of poor-quality antimalarials in 39 sub-Saharan countries is estimated using Latin hypercube sampling.

Quality of antiretroviral and opportunistic infection medications dispensed from developing countries and Internet pharmacies

TLDR
The goal of this study was to assess the quality of ARV and OI medications obtained from various sources, including South Africa, United States, China, Ethiopia, Thailand, Laos, Mexico, Nigeria and five Internet pharmacies.
