RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho e identificar a organizacao retorica das secoes de leitura de um livro didatico de ingles (LDI). O corpus e composto pelas doze secoes de leitura do LDI analisado. Sob o pano de fundo da analise contextual, uma analise textual foi realizada, que seguiu tres passos: a) identificar as funcoes de cada parte das secoes; b) nomear os movimentos; c) comparar a recorrencia dos movimentos nos exemplares. Foram identificados quatro movimentos retoricos, dois obrigatorios e dois opcionais, e seis movimentos iterativos. Cada movimento cumpre uma funcao na secao de leitura contribuindo para a totalidade da organizacao retorica. ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to identify the rhetorical organization of reading sections of an English language textbook (ELT). The corpus is composed by the twelve reading sections of the analyzed ELT. Based on the contextual analysis, a textual analysis was done. This analysis followed three steps: a) identify the functions of each part; b) name the moves; c) compare the recurrence of the moves in the exemplars. Four rhetorical moves were identified, two obligatory and two optional, and six iterative moves. Each move accomplishes one function in the reading section and contributes to the totality of the rhetorical organization.
