We report the detection of interstellar methoxymethanol (CH3OCH2OH) in Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Bands. 6 and. 7 toward the MM1 core in the high-mass star-forming region NGC 6334I at similar to 0 ''. 1-1 ''. spatial resolution. A column density of 4(2). x 10(18) cm(-2) at T-ex = 200 K is derived toward MM1, similar to 34. times less abundant than methanol (CH3OH), and significantly higher than predicted by astrochemical models. Probable formation and destruction… Expand

Detection of methoxymethanol as a photochemistry product of condensed methanol
We report the identification of methoxymethanol (CH3OCH2OH) as a photochemistry product of condensed methanol (CH3OH) based on temperature-programmed desorption studies conducted following photonExpand
On the Production of Polyols and Hydroxycarboxylic Acids in Interstellar Analogous Ices of Methanol
This laboratory work studied the production of complex organic molecules in pure methanol (CH3OH) ices exposed to ionizing radiation in the form of energetic electrons. The chemical evolution of theExpand
ALMA Detection of Vibrationally Excited (v t = 1, 2) Acetic Acid toward NGC 6334I

Submillimeter-wave spectroscopy and the radio-astronomical investigation of propynethial (HC≡CCHS)
Context. The majority of sulfur-containing molecules detected in the interstellar medium (ISM) are analogs of oxygen-containing compounds. Propynal was detected in the ISM in 1988, henceExpand
Methylamine and other simple N-bearing species in the hot cores NGC 6334I MM1–3
Context. In the search for the building blocks of life, nitrogen-bearing molecules are of particular interest since nitrogen-containing bonds are essential for the linking of amino acids andExpand
A prochiral precursor in space? Accurate laboratory characterization of acetylacetylene in the cm-wave region
Abstract The most prominent pure rotational transitions of the prochiral, possibly prebiotic molecule acetylacetylene are recorded in the frequency range of 6.5-26.5 GHz for a reliable spectralExpand
Extraterrestrial prebiotic molecules: photochemistry vs. radiation chemistry of interstellar ices.
The ultimate goal in this review paper is to critically evaluate the current understanding of cosmic ice energetic processing which likely leads to the synthesis of extraterrestrial prebiotic molecules. Expand
Searches for Interstellar HCCSH and H2CCS
A long standing problem in astrochemistry is the inability of many current models to account for missing sulfur content. Many relatively simple species that may be good candidates to sequester sulfurExpand
Laboratory rotational spectroscopy of methyl n-propyl sulfide: Conformational analysis and methyl internal rotation
Abstract The microwave spectrum of methyl n-propyl sulfide, CH3-S-CH2-CH2-CH3, was recorded in the frequency region from 2.0 to 26.5 GHz, revealing three conformers. Quantum chemical calculationsExpand
Low levels of methanol deuteration in the high-mass star-forming region NGC 6334I
The abundance of deuterated molecules in a star-forming region is sensitive to the environment in which they are formed. Deuteration fractions therefore provide a powerful tool for studying theExpand

Rotational spectroscopy, tentative interstellar detection, and chemical modeling of N-methylformamide
Context. N-methylformamide, CH3 NHCHO, may be an important molecule for interstellar pre-biotic chemistry because it contains a peptide bond, which in terrestrial chemistry is responsible for linkingExpand
