Questionnaires administered to 150 randomly selected students at Makerere Medical School revealed negative attitudes toward persons with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) depending on personal variables yet a commitment to remain in the medical profession in spite of the personal risks. 80.5% of the medical students were male with a mean age of 24.73 years and 19.5% were female with a mean age of 22.69 years.
