In 1986 the World Health Organization estimated the number of AIDS cases in Africa at 2 million and the Johns Hopkins University Population Report estimated that for every 100000 AIDS sufferers there were 5-10 million HIV carriers. US military intelligence reports estimate that as many as 60% of the population in parts of Africa may die within the next 7 years.
