The present study is aimed at evaluating the toxicological and antioxidant activity of Parinari curatellifolia (P.C) methanolic root extract on oxidative stress induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in rats. The degree of treatment in this activity has been measured by using biochemical parameters such as serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in tissues and serum…

ANTI-INFECTIOUS AND IN VIVO ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITIES OF ALBIZIA GUMMIFERA AQUEOUS STEM BARK EXTRACT AGAINST SALMONELLA TYPHI-INDUCED TYPHOID FEVER IN RATS

In the search for therapeutic agents from natural sources with pesticides, diseases such as typhoid fever are still a serious problem and a major threat to the society in most of the developing countries.

Hepatoprotective effect of Carissa carandas Linn root extract against CCl4 and paracetamol induced hepatic oxidative stress.

Oral pre-treatment with ethanolic extract of the roots of C. carandas showed significant hepatoprotective activity against CCl4 and paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity, and showed that ERCC possessed strong antioxidant activity, which may probably lead to the promising hepatoprotsective activities of C-carandas root extract.

Hepatoprotective activity of Moringa oleifera on antitubercular drug-induced liver damage in rats.

Results of this study showed that treatment with M. oleifera extracts or silymarin appears to enhance the recovery from hepatic damage induced by antitubercular drugs.

Protective role of tetrahydrocurcumin against erythromycin estolate-induced hepatotoxicity.

ANTIOXIDANT AND HEPATOPROTECTIVE EFFECTS OF BAUHINIA RACEMOSA AGAINST PARACETAMOL AND CARBON TETRACHLORIDE INDUCED LIVER DAMAGEIN RATS

It is suggested that methanol extract of Bauhinia racemosa (MEBR) could protect the liver cells from paracetamol and CCl4-induced liver damages perhaps, by its antioxidative effect on hepatocytes, hence eliminating the deleterious effects of toxic metabolites from par acetamol or CCl 4.

Hepatoprotective effect of pinoresinol on carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic damage in mice.

The results suggest that pinoresinol ameliorates CCl4)-induced acute liver injury, and this protection is likely due to anti-oxidative activity and down-regulation of inflammatory mediators through inhibition of NF-kappaB and AP-1.

Protective effects of taurine on glutathione and glutathione-dependent enzymes in ethanol-fed rats.

It is proposed that taurine may have a bioprotective effect on ethanol-induced toxicity and prevented the leakage of enzymes into circulation and restored glutathione and tissue thiols.

Impact of dietary supplement of Crassostrea gigas extract (JCOE) on glutathione levels and glutathione S-transferase activity in rat tissues.

It is concluded that biologically available peptides are taken up in target organs and stimulate GSH metabolism and contribute to a more effective detoxification phenotype, thus providing enhanced chemoprotective capacity.
