The autonomic nervous system maintains internal homeostasis by regulating cardiovascular, thermoregulatory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, exocrine, and pupillary function. Testing and quantifying autonomic nervous system function is an important but difficult area of clinical neurophysiology.
