Modern cytogenetic techniques, such as comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) and the multi-color fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) techniques of multiplex fluorescence in situ hybridization (M-FISH) and spectral karyotyping (SKY), require a coordinated banding analysis to maximize their usefulness.
