The mitochondrial DNA (kinetoplast DNA) of the trypanosomatid Crithidia fasciculata consists of minicircles and maxicircles topologically interlocked in a single network per cell. Individual minicircles replicate unidirectionally from either of two replication origins located 180 degrees apart on the minicircle DNA.
