A sialic-acid-specific lectin from ovine placental cotyledons was purified by affinity chromatography on bovine submaxillary mucin-agarose followed by gel filtration, and it showed a molecular weight of 65 000 by sodium dodecylsulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
