Exon EDIIIA of the fibronectin (Fn) gene is alternatively spliced via pathways which either skip or include the whole exon in the messenger RNA (mRNA). We have investigated the role of EDIIIA exon sequences in the human Fn gene in determining alternative splicing of this exon during transient expression of alpha globin/Fn minigene hybrids in HeLa cells.
