In stressed tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus, total alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) levels and di-acetyl alpha-MSH/mono-acetyl alpha-MSH (di:mono) ratios are elevated. We therefore investigated the role of alpha-MSH in the regulation of the pituitary-interrenal axis.
