New and published reports of zoogonid digeneans from New Caledonian waters are recorded, including a description of Overstreetia cribbi n. sp. from Atherinomorus lacunosus. This species differs from its congeners in the detail of its circum-oral spination and some metrical features. Other new records are of: Diphterostomum plectorhynchi Machida, Kamegai & Kuramochi, 2006 in Diagramma pictum; Parvipyrum acanthuri (Pritchard, 1963) in Acanthurus dussumieri; Zoogonoides viviparus (Olsson, 1868) in… Expand
New records of anisakid nematodes from marine fishes off New Caledonia, with descriptions of five new species of Raphidascaris (Ichthyascaris) (Nematoda, Anisakidae)
TLDR
Five new species of Raphidascaris are revealed, all belonging to the subgenus Ichthyascaris Wu, 1949, and most of them are described based on light and electron microscopical studies. Expand
A new species of Plectognathotrema Layman, 1930 (Trematoda: Zoogonidae) from an Australian monacanthid, with a molecular assessment of the phylogenetic position of the genus
TLDR
The generation of novel partial 28S ribosomal DNA sequences allowed a phylogenetic assessment of the genus and demonstrated that Plectognathotrema clearly belongs in the Zoogonidae Odhner, 1902, rather than in the Fellodistomidae Nicoll, 1909, where it is currently assigned. Expand
A new species of Lecithostaphylus Odhner, 1911 (Trematoda: Zoogonidae) from the Pacific needlefish, Tylosurus pacificus, off the Pacific coast of Mexico, with a molecular assessment of the phylogenetic position of this genus within the family
A new species of Lecithostaphylus Odhner, 1911 (Zoogonidae) is described from the Pacific agujon needlefish, Tylosurus pacificus (Steindachner) (Belonidae), from two localities off the Pacific coastExpand
Gaharitrema droneni n. gen., n. sp. (Digenea: Zoogonidae) from the Pudgy Cuskeel, Spectrunculus grandis (Ophidiiformes: Ophidiidae), from Deep Waters Off Oregon, with Updated Keys to Zoogonid Subfamilies and Genera
TLDR
This study documents the third family of digeneans (Zoogonidae) known to parasitize S. grandis, and it is a new host record (i.e., the first zoogonid reported from this host species). Expand
Spermatological characters of the digenean Lecithostaphylus retroflexus (Molin, 1859) (Microphalloidea: Zoogonidae), a parasite of the teleost fish Belone belone gracilis.
TLDR
The ultrastructural organization of the spermatozoon of the digenean Lecithostaphylus retroflexus (Microphalloidea: Zoogonidae) was described and corresponds to the fasciolidean type. Expand
Ultrastructure of the spermatozoon of Lecithostaphylus parexocoeti (Digenea, Microphalloidea, Zoogonidae) parasite of the flying fish Cheilopogon pinnatibarbatus (Teleostei, Exocoetidae) off Senegal and their implication on the phylogenetic relationships in Microphalloidea
TLDR
This study shows the ultrastructure of the mature spermatozoon of Lecithostaphylus parexocoeti, a parasite of the flying fish Cheilopogon pinnatibarbatus (Exocoetidae) captured in the Atlantic Ocean near Dakar (Senegal). Expand

TLDR
Ulastructural evidence is presented suggesting that the membranous egg-capsule of the zoogonines shows vestiges of the three layers of a normal tanned egg-shell, but little general information on the zoogeography of the group was discovered. Expand
