The taxonomy of Chinese wild grapes can be traced back to the end of the 18 th century. However, most research in this field was performed in the last three decades. On the basis of the data from the Chinese wild grape germplasm collected in the last 25 years at the College of Horticulture, Northwest A&F University, Yangling, Shaanxi, China, and publications by other scientists in China, we concluded there were 40 species, 1 subspecies, and 13 varieties of Chinese wild grapes. These were… Expand
Diversity Analysis of Chinese Wild Grape Species
TLDR
The results have showed that the Chinese wild grape has rich diversity in main phenophase, young shoot down, young shoot color, blade shape, blade color, teeth, berry size, skin color, berry flavor, floral organs and so on, with abundant genetic diversity. Expand
The wild relatives of grape in China: Diversity, conservation gaps and impact of climate change
TLDR
The potential distribution of GWRs at the present and predicted future climate was compared and it showed that simulated current distributions matched actual distribution ranges, and under the future climate scenario with doubled CO2 concentration, suitable areas for continued survival of 21 G WRs could be reduced. Expand
Grape Species and Varieties
TLDR
The distinctive structural and genetic nature of the genus Vitis is covered, followed by a discussion of its geographic origin and distribution, notably V. vinifera—the wine grape, and modern views on the likely origins of grape cultivars, their selection, and their spread. Expand
Title Identification of two novel powdery mildew resistance loci , Ren 6 and Ren 7 , from the wild Chinese grape species
Background: Grapevine powdery mildew Erysiphe necator is a major fungal disease in all grape growing countries worldwide. Breeding for resistance to this disease is crucial to avoid extensiveExpand
Identification of mildew resistance in wild and cultivated Central Asian grape germplasm
TLDR
Evidence that powdery mildew resistance is present in V. vinifera subsp. Expand
Morphological variability in leaves of Chinese wild Vitis species.
TLDR
It is suggested that digital morphometrics is a powerful tool for assessing leaf shape variations among grape species and would be of great use for the conservation and utilization of Chinese wild Vitis species. Expand
Genetic relationship between Chinese wild Vitis species and American and European Cultivars based on ISSR markers
abstract Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers were employed to detect the genetic diversityamong 70 grape accessions including 52 clones of 17 Chinese wild grape species, seveninterspecificExpand
Identification of two novel powdery mildew resistance loci, Ren6 and Ren7, from the wild Chinese grape species Vitis piasezkii
TLDR
A comparison of the kinetics of induction of powdery mildew resistance mediated by Ren6, Ren7 and the Run1 locus from Muscadinia rotundifolia indicated that the speed and strength of resistance conferred by Ren 6 is greater than that of Run1 which, in turn, is superior to that conferred byRen7. Expand
On the recognition of the long neglected Vitis adenoclada Hand.-Mazz. (Vitaceae) from southern China.
TLDR
Recent field studies and examination of herbarium collections including the type material suggest that Vitis adenoclada is morphologically similar to V. heyneana, yet it can be easily distinguished from the latter by its red-purple glandular hairs on the young branches. Expand
The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Vitis pseudoreticulata
TLDR
The phylogenetic tree analysis showed that V. pseudoreticulata was the closest related to Vitis amurensis, and the complete chloroplast genome was assembled for the first time. Expand

TLDR
Having been treated the 16 OTUs and their 66 characters in morphylogy and anatomy by the sequential clustering (nearest neighbor clustering method) analysis, the relatoinships of these OTUs have been defined tentatively. Expand
Progress in grapevine breeding
TLDR
The aim of a number of grapevine breeding programs throughout the world is to develop new varieties resistant to diseases using complex hybrids between European and American species of Vitis, but it is essential to maintain heterozygosity and desirable hybrids are multiplied by asexual propagation. Expand
The inheritances of fruit skin and must colors in a series of interspecific and intraspecific crosses between V. vinifera and the wild grape species native to China
TLDR
It is demonstrated that clones’ fruit color and IA content could be predicted according to parental genotype in grape crossbreeding, which would be important to breed new grape cultivars with different colors using the valuable wild grapes native to China as parents. Expand
