Exfoliated graphite (EG) refers to graphite that has a degree of separation of a substantial portion of the carbon layers in the graphite. Graphite nanoplatelet (GNP) is commonly prepared by mechanical agitation of EG. The EG exhibits clinginess, due to its cellular structure, but GNP does not. The clinginess allows the formation of EG compacts and flexible graphite sheet without a binder. The exfoliation typically involves intercalation, followed by heating. Upon heating, the intercalate…

Intercalation and exfoliation of graphite - For a route to scalable production of conductive inks for printed electronics

The ability to print environmentally friendly, lightweight, foldable conductors with the performance of rigid-based electronics would open up for a new area of applications. Research regarding ink

Gas permeability of graphite foil prepared from exfoliated graphite with different microstructures

Graphite foil (GF) is widely used as a sealing material in different industries. Different methods of GF preparation result in differences of its crystalline and pore structure, which in turn

Preparation and characterization of room-temperature chemically expanded graphite: Application for cationic dye removal

A facile, effective, and eco-friendly process was developed for the preparation of chemically expanded graphite (CEG) under ambient conditions using natural flake graphite as raw material, potassium

Synthesis and Characterization of Graphite Intercalation Compounds with Sulfuric Acid

In this work, graphite intercalation compounds (GICs) were synthesized using three different oxidizers: (NH4)2S2O8, K2S2O8, and CrO3 with and without P2O5 as a water-binding agent. Furthermore, the

Graphite Intercalation Compounds (GIC) with HNO3 were chemically obtained using different morphologies of natural graphite from Sri Lanka, Madagascar and Kromful. X-ray powder patterns of the

Influence of exfoliated graphite inclusion on the thermal, mechanical, dielectric and solvent transport characteristics of fluoroelastomer nanocomposites

Nanocomposites with multifunctional properties are of great interest as they meet the needs of the developing industrial and engineering fields. The present study focus on the development of

A comparative study of auxiliary intercalating agents on thermal conductivity of expanded graphite/polyetherimide composite

In this work, we have comprehensively studied the effect of auxiliary intercalating agents on the thermal conductivity of expanded graphite (EG) polymer composites. We report an ultra-high
