We give a relativistically covariant, wave-functional formulation of Bohm's quantum field theory for the scalar field based on a general foliation of spacetime by space-like hypersurfaces. The wave functional, which guides the evolution of the field, is spacetime-foliation independent but the field itself is not. Hence, in order to have a theory in which the field may be considered a beable, some extra rule must be given to determine the foliation. We suggest one such rule based on the…
Covariant canonical quantization of fields and Bohmian mechanics
Abstract. We propose a manifestly covariant canonical method of field quantization based on the classical De Donder-Weyl covariant canonical formulation of field theory. Owing to covariance, the space
A Relativistic Hidden-Variable Interpretation for the Massive Vector Field Based on Energy-Momentum Flows
This paper is motivated by the desire to formulate a relativistically covariant hidden-variable particle trajectory interpretation of the quantum theory of the vector field that is formulated in such
Can Bohmian mechanics be made relativistic?
It is argued that the possibility that, instead of positing it as extra structure, the required foliation could be covariantly determined by the wave function allows for the formulation of Bohmian theories that seem to qualify as fundamentally Lorentz invariant.
Boson-Fermion Unification, Superstrings, and Bohmian Mechanics
Bosonic and fermionic particle currents can be introduced in a more unified way, with the cost of introducing a preferred spacetime foliation. Such a unified treatment of bosons and fermions
D ec 2 01 3 Can Bohmian mechanics be made relativistic ?
In relativistic space-time, Bohmian theories can be formulated by introducing a privileged foliation of space-time. The introduction of such a foliation – as extra absolute space-time structure –
The Clifford Algebra Approach to Quantum Mechanics B: The Dirac Particle and its relation to the Bohm Approach
In this paper we present for the first time a complete description of the Bohm model of the Dirac particle. This result demonstrates again that the common perception that it is not possible to
Applied Bohmian mechanics
Abstract Bohmian mechanics provides an explanation of quantum phenomena in terms of point-like particles guided by wave functions. This review focuses on the use of nonrelativistic Bohmian mechanics
Stochasticity and Bell-type quantum field theory
This paper critically discusses an objection proposed by Nikolić against the naturalness of the stochastic dynamics implemented by the Bell-type quantum field theory, an extension of Bohmian
Covariant many-fingered time Bohmian interpretation of quantum field theory
Abstract The Bohmian interpretation of the many-fingered time (MFT) Tomonaga–Schwinger formulation of quantum field theory (QFT) describes MFT fields, which provides a covariant Bohmian
On the Merits of the “ Unromantic Pictures ”
I am concerned with two views of quantum mechanics that John S. Bell called " unromantic " : spontaneous wave function collapse and Bohmian mechanics. I discuss some of their merits and report about

Relativistically invariant extension of the de Broglie–Bohm theory of quantum mechanics
We show that quantum mechanics can be given a Lorentz-invariant realistic interpretation by applying our recently proposed relativistic extension of the de Broglie–Bohm theory to deduce non-locally
A non-local, Lorentz-invariant, hidden-variable interpretation of relativistic quantum mechanics based on particle trajectories
We demonstrate how to construct a Lorentz-invariant, hidden-variable interpretation of relativistic quantum mechanics based on particle trajectories. The covariant theory that we propose employs a
Time-like flows of energy momentum and particle trajectories for the Klein-Gordon equation
The Klein-Gordon equation is interpreted in the de Broglie-Bohm manner as a single-particle relativistic quantum mechanical equation that defines unique time-like particle trajectories. The particle
Quantum Electrodynamics. I. A Covariant Formulation
Attempts to avoid the divergence difficulties of quantum electrodynamics by multilation of the theory have been uniformly unsuccessful. The lack of convergence does indicate that a revision of
The Interaction Representation in the Quantum Theory of Fields
The interaction representation has recently been introduced into the quantum theory of fields by Tomonaga and Schwinger. Applications of the theory to interacting meson-photon fields have led to
