OBJECTIVE Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a disorder characterized by progressive thickening of the skin; there is no effective therapy. PVAC, a potential therapeutic agent derived from delipidated, deglycolipidated Mycobacterium vaccae, has shown effects on cutaneous disease in animal models of SSc.
