Motivated by the precedent study of Ordenes-Huanca and Velazquez (2016 J. Stat. Mech. 093303), we address the study of a simple model of a pure non-neutral plasma: a system of identical non-relativistic charged particles confined under an external harmonic field with frequency . We perform the equilibrium thermo-statistical analysis in the framework of continuum approximation. This study reveals the existence of two asymptotic limits: the known Brillouin steady state at zero temperature, and…

We derive the two-dimensional counter-differential rotation equilibria of two-component plasmas, composed of both ion and electron ($e^-$) clouds with finite temperatures, for the first time. In the

The relationship between dynamic instability and curvature properties of the configuration space manifold is the main concern of this paper and the possibility of misleading conclusions that might be drawn from the geometric approach is warned.

Observations make possible the construction of a comprehensive thermodynamic description of two-dimensional turbulence, and the maximization of the generalized entropy with $q=\frac{1}{2}$ for the pure-electron plasma column leads to precisely the same profiles predicted by the restricted minimum enstrophy theory.
