There is provided a process for the preparation of vinyl ester urethane resins described in which a dianhydrohexitol compound with a diisocyanate in the presence of a monomeric radical-copolymerizable compound is reacted as solvent and the product with a hydroxy-substituted (meth) acrylate is reacted. This makes vinyl ester can be obtained easily and in high yields based on dianhydrohexitol compounds and based on renewable raw materials.
