Electrical generating utilities are increasingly annoyed with the growing gap between the peaks and valleys of electricity demand. This paper proposes a power management approach for load leveling by utilizing battery-equipped devices. This approach implements a peak-shift on devices which include a built-in battery. Performing a peak-shift on such devices narrows the gap. In addition, it also helps reduce CO/sub 2/ emissions. This approach can be implemented on widely used notebook computers… CONTINUE READING
