The commercial fasciolicides nitroxynil, hexachlorophene and oxyclozanide have the following minimum uncoupling concentrations when tested with rat liver mitochondria by an oxygen electrode assay: 27-33 μ, 0.6-0.8 μ and 0.3-0.4 μM, respectively. The compounds stimulated the rate of oxygen uptake of intact flukes in Warburg flasks 20-40% over the untreated rate at 10-100 μ, 1-10 μM and 0.1-1 μM, respectively.
