The focus of this study was the systematic evaluation of the clinical effects of the extract of ginkgo biloba (EGb) as an adjunct to the atypical antipsychotic clozapine in the treatment of refractory schizophrenia. In a placebo-controlled study, 42 patients with chronic, treatment-resistant schizophrenia, who were maintained on optimal doses of clozapine, were administered either 120 mg/day of EGb (N=20) or placebo (N=22) for 12 weeks. Clinical evaluations with the Brief Psychiatric Rating… Expand
Efficacy and safety of extract of Ginkgo biloba as an adjunct therapy in chronic schizophrenia: A systematic review of randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies with meta-analysis
TLDR
The result showed that EGb had a significant difference in ameliorating total and negative symptoms of chronic schizophrenia as an adjuvant therapy to antipsychotics and the EGb therapy plus antipsychotic might be more efficacious. Expand
Review and meta-analysis of usage of ginkgo as an adjunct therapy in chronic schizophrenia.
TLDR

EFFECT OF GINKGO BILOBA, RISPERIDONE AND BIPERIDEN REGIMEN IN CHRONIC SCHIZOPHRENIA
TLDR
It is suggested that the use of Ginkgo biloba as an adjunct to Respridone and Biperiden was more effective than Risperidone withBiperiden regimen improving psychological condition of chronic schizophrenic patients. Expand
Non-glutamatergic clozapine augmentation strategies: a review and meta-analysis.
TLDR
An overview of studies in which the potential clinical utility of the addition of non-glutamatergic agents to clozapine is assessed is assessed and a meta-analysis on the efficacy of both risperidone and aripiprazole compared to placebo is performed. Expand

TLDR
Gingko biloba seems to be an effective and safe drug for reducing symptoms of DSP without any apparent effect on the electrophysiological attributes of sensorimotor nerves. Expand
Characteristics and definitions of ultra-treatment-resistant schizophrenia – A systematic review and meta-analysis
TLDR
This first meta-analysis characterizing CRS patients and comparing CRS definitions revealed a lack of consistent implementation of a CRS definition from guidelines into clinical trials, compromising the replicability of the results and their applicability in clinical practice. Expand
Treatment of Clozapine Nonresponders
TLDR
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is possibly the most effective augmentation strategy in patients not responding or partially responding to clozapine and require augmentation of clozAPine with another treatment strategy. Expand
