BACKGROUND In 2005 a competency based curriculum was introduced in the Dutch postgraduate medical training programs. While the manager's role is one of the seven key competencies, there is still no formal management course in most postgraduate curricula. Based on a needs assessment we conducted, several themes were identified as important for a possible management training program.
