BACKGROUND The authors have previously demonstrated that tamoxifen (TAM) is synergistic with cisplatin (DDP) in patients with metastatic melanoma. In vitro studies have demonstrated that TAM/DDP synergy is dependent on a TAM effect that is currently under investigation.
