author={Hiroyuki Sumi and Hiroki Hamada and Hirofumi Tsushima and Hisashi Mihara and H. Muraki},
A strong fibrinolytic activity was demonstrated in the vegetable cheese Natto, which is a typical soybean food eaten in Japan. The average activity was calculated at about 40 CU (plasmin units)/g wet weight. This novel fibrinolytic enzyme, named nattokinase, was easily extracted with saline. The mol. wt and pI were about 20,000 and 8.6, respectively. Nattokinase not only digested fibrin but also the plasmin substrate H-D-Val-Leu-Lys-pNA (S-2251), which was more sensitive to the enzyme than…
A novel fibrinolytic enzymes from the Korean traditional fermented food-Jotgal: Purification and characterization.
The purification, enzymatic characteristics, and fibrinolytic activity of the proteases, originated from Korean traditional fermented food, Jotgal were reported and it is concluded that these enzymes could be a novel potent thrombolytic agent.
Unsaturated fatty acids enhance the fibrinolytic activity of subtilisin NAT (nattokinase).
It is demonstrated that widely occurring unsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic, eicosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic acids enhance the fibrinolytic activity of STN, suggesting that the intake of natto or STN supplements in combination with uns saturated fatty acid-containing oil can be a novel way to gain cardiovascular benefits.
Fibrinolysis and anticoagulant potential of a metallo protease produced by Bacillus subtilis K42
The clotting time of human blood serum in the presence of this enzyme reached a relative PTT of 241.7% with a 3.4-fold increase, suggesting that this enzyme could be an effective antithrombotic agent.
Effect of a Novel Substance from natto on Tissue-type Plasminogen Activator (t-PA) Release in Perfused Rat Hindlegs
It is shown that the novel substances present in natto improve thrombolytic activity in the blood and tissue-type plasminogen activator(t-PA) increased in blood vessels perfused with the natto extract made using the Miyagino strain.
Purification and characterization of a novel fibrinolytic enzyme from chive (Allium tuberosum)
A novel Allium tuberosum fibrinolytic enzyme (ATFE) was purified from the leaf of chive by ion exchange chromatography followed by gel filtration and exhibited high specificity for Meo-Suc-Arg-Pro-Tyr-pNA, a synthetic chromogenic substrate for chymotrypsin.
Studies on a Fibrinolytic Enzyme from Bacillus Species
The fibrinolytic enzyme had exhibited excellent blood clot dissolving property and therefore may be considered for further scale up and commercial exploitation.
Purification of a fibrinolytic enzyme (myulchikinase) from pickled anchovy and its cytotoxicity to the tumor cell lines
A fibrinolytic enzyme, myulchikinase, from a Korean seasoning ingredient,Myul-chi-jeot-gal, has been purified to electrophoretic homogeneity and Amino acid sequence of the NH2-terminal of myulChkinase showed significant homology with other fibrinoslytic enzymes including trypsin from starfish, katsuwokinase, and rat pancreatic elastase II.
Production of a Fibrinolytic Enzyme from Coprinus comatus YY-20
The results suggest that the culture liquid of Coprinus comatus YY-20 has potential as a source of physiologically active fibrinolytic enzymes.

Transport of urokinase across the intestinal tract of normal human subjects with stimulation of synthesis and/or release of urokinase-type proteins.
Oral administration of clinical-type high molecular weight urokinase in a single dose of 30,000-60,000 International Units (IU) in enteric-coated capsules induced a plasma fibrinolytic state suggesting transport of HMW-UK across the intestinal tract, shown to be clinically effective in patients with cerebral thrombosis in a multicenter double blind study.
Methods for determination of prekallikrein in plasma, glandular kallikrein and urokinase.
New chromogenic tripeptide substrates have been used for the determination of kallikreins and urokinase and it is possible to determine prek allikrein in plasma after activation with Cephotest.
The fibrin plate method for estimating fibrinolytic activity.
Oral administration of urokinase.
