The level of aflatoxin accumulation in the filamentous fungus Aspergillus parasiticus is modulated by a variety of environmental cues. The presence of glucose (a preferred carbon source) in liquid and solid glucose minimal salts (GMS) growth media strongly stimulated aflatoxin accumulation.
