We construct a new vacuum and representation for loop quantum gravity. Because the new vacuum is based on BF theory, it is physical for (2+1)-dimensional gravity, and much closer to the spirit of spin foam quantization in general. To construct this new vacuum and the associated representation of quantum observables, we introduce a modified holonomy–flux algebra that is cylindrically consistent with respect to the notion of refinement by time evolution suggested in Dittrich and Steinhaus (2013…
Flux formulation of loop quantum gravity: Classical framework
We recently introduced a new representation for loop quantum gravity (LQG), which is based on the BF vacuum and is in this sense much nearer to the spirit of spin foam dynamics. In the present paper
New loop quantum cosmology modifications from gauge-covariant fluxes
Loop quantum cosmology is a symmetry reduced quantization of cosmological spacetimes based on loop quantum gravity. While it has been successful in resolution of various cosmological singularities
Quantum gravity kinematics from extended TQFTs
In this paper, we show how extended topological quantum field theories (TQFTs) can be used to obtain a kinematical setup for quantum gravity, i.e. a kinematical Hilbert space together with a
A new realization of quantum geometry
We construct in this article a new realization of quantum geometry, which is obtained by quantizing the recently-introduced flux formulation of loop quantum gravity. In this framework, the vacuum is
Loop quantum gravity coupled to a scalar field
We reconsider the Rovelli-Smolin model of gravity coupled to the Klein-Gordon time field with an eye towards capturing the degrees of freedom of the scalar field lost in the framework in which time
Fusion basis for lattice gauge theory and loop quantum gravity
A bstractWe introduce a new basis for the gauge-invariant Hilbert space of lattice gauge theory and loop quantum gravity in (2 + 1) dimensions, the fusion basis. In doing so, we shift the focus from
Time Gauge Fixing for 3d Loop Quantum Gravity
In this work, we review 3-dimensional gravity by canonically analyzing the HilbertPalatini action. We apply a time gauge used in 4-dimensional loop quantum gravity [14] to the simpler case of the
Towards Gaussian states for loop quantum gravity
An important challenge in loop quantum gravity is to find semiclassical states - states that are as close to classical as quantum theory allows. This is difficult because the states in the Hilbert
Dynamics in Canonical Models of Loop Quantum Gravity
In this thesis we consider the problem of dynamics in canonical loop quantum gravity, primarily in the context of deparametrized models, in which a scalar field is taken as a physical time variable
Quantum Cosmology from Group Field Theory Condensates: a Review
We give, in some detail, a critical overview over recent work towards deriving a cosmological phenomenology from the fundamental quantum dynamics of group field the- ory (GFT), based on the picture

Linking covariant and canonical loop quantum gravity: New solutions to the Euclidean scalar constraint
It is often emphasized that spin-foam models could realize a projection on the physical Hilbert space of canonical Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG). As a first test we analyze the one-vertex expansion of a
On loop quantum gravity kinematics with a non-degenerate spatial background
In a remarkable paper (Koslowski T A 2007 arXiv:0709.3465[gr-qc]), Koslowski introduced kinematical representations for loop quantum gravity in which a non-degenerate spatial background metric is

We show that the space of generalized fluxes—momentum space—for loop quantum gravity cannot be constructed by Fourier transforming the projective limit construction of the space of generalized
Loop quantum gravity vacuum with nondegenerate geometry
In loop quantum gravity, states of the gravitational field turn out to be excita- tions over a vacuum state that is sharply peaked on a degenerate spatial geometry. While this vacuum is singled out

Loop quantum cosmology: a status report
Loop quantum cosmology (LQC) is the result of applying principles of loop quantum gravity (LQG) to cosmological settings. The distinguishing feature of LQC is the prominent role played by the quantum
