A new type of cysteine proteinase inhibitor--the salarin gene from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) and Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus).


Salarin is a 43 kDa glycoprotein which is found so far only in salmonid fish species. It is a strong inhibitor of cysteine proteinases.
