I n this paper we describe a new structural type of metaborate anion. I t consists of a three-dimensional framework in which the boron atoms are situated a t t he vertices of a Fedorow's t runcated octahedron. Each boron a tom is surrounded by four oxygen atoms forming tetrahedra which are linked to form a three-dimensional anion. This type of anion, which appears in Z^OfBOjJ j , is very similar to the (Al3Si3012) ion of the sodalite. In the metaborate structures that have been determinated…
