A new species of the genus Oligodon from the coastal area of Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, southern Vietnam, is described. Oligodon arenarius sp. nov. is distinguishable from all other species by the unique combination of the following characters: medium size; 17 dorsal scale rows; 6-8 maxillary teeth, the posterior three being enlarged; head scalation lacking a loreal but usually including a presubocular; divided nasal; two postoculars; 131-144 ventrals; 36-60…
A new species of kukri snake (Squamata: Colubridae: Oligodon Fitzinger, 1826) from Con Dao Islands, southern Vietnam.
A new kukri snake is described from Con Dao Islands, southern Vietnam based on the morphological characters of four specimens, which differs from other congeners by a combination of the following characters.
This species differs from congeners occurring in the Indochinese Region by possessing 15 dorsal scale rows at midbody, an unforked hemipenis, an entire cloacal plate, a relatively low number of ventral plates (150–159), and a dorsal pattern made of 29–30 pale crossbands on the body that are narrowly edged with blackish-brown.
A new species of Oligodon Fitzinger, 1826 from the Langbian Plateau, southern Vietnam, with additional information on Oligodon annamensis Leviton, 1953 (Squamata: Colubridae)
A new species of Oligodon is described from the highlands of the Langbian Plateau, southern Truong Son Mountains, Vietnam, based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic analyses and demonstrates high level of herpetofaunal diversity and endemism of Lang Bian Plateau and further supports the importance of this area for conservation herpet ofaunal Diversity in Indochina.
Oligodon saiyok , a new limestone-dwelling kukri snake (Serpentes: Colubridae) from Kanchanaburi Province, western Thailand
We describe Oligodon saiyok sp. nov. from Benjarat Nakhon Cave Temple, Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province, western Thailand. It is characterized by a maximal known SVL of 626.1 mm; 13 maxillary
Taxonomic Composition of the Oligodon arnensis (Shaw 1802) Species Complex (Squamata: Colubridae) with the Description of a New Species from India
It is demonstrated that southern, eastern, and western populations in India represent three distinct species, and a new species from Kurduvadi is described, in the Deccan plateau of western India representing the western Indian population of O. arnensis sensu lato.
Male combat in the striped kukri snake Oligodon teniatus
An observation of the first recorded instance of combat between males in Oligodon teniatus is described, where the individuals are tightly wrapped in an attempt to subdue the other by keeping its head and weight on top.
Frogs of the genus Indirana are endemic to India. Previous research on these frogs has focussed on taxonomy and systematics but their behaviour remains largely understudied. Here we report the

We describe Oligodon huahin sp. nov. from a bamboo forest locality on the road to Pala-U waterfall, Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, peninsular Thailand. It is characterized by a
