This paper describes a new species of Yphthirrwides (Nymphalidae, SatyrinaE,) from the highlands of thc Serra do Cip6, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. The position of this species is still uncertain within the genus, but it is near to Y. celmis (Godart) based on the male genitalia. Early stages are very similar to those of other species of Euptychiini. Adults are most active from 10:00 to 14:00 h, mostly on slopes protected from direct winds.
