BACKGROUND Quantitative assessment of regional myocardial function has important diagnostic implications in cardiac disease. Recent advances in CT imaging technology have allowed fine anatomic structures, such as endocardial trabeculae, to be resolved and potentially used as fiducial markers for tracking local wall deformations.
