Samples from the scarcely-studied sedimentary seabed from the Isla del Coco (Costa Rica) yielded a single species of Tanaidacea, belonging to a new genus of Leptocheliidae, Cocotanais. The new genus shows affinities with Pseudonototanais and Heterotanais in bearing a conspicuous forcipate cheliped in the males, which in Cocotanais has a modified merus and carpal flange. Other distinct characters of the males are a triangular cephalothorax, a three-articled antennular peduncle and swollen bases… Expand

Diets of peracarid crustaceans associated with the orange coral Astroides calycularis in southern Spain
TLDR
The results highlight that peracarids may depend on the host and the detritus that the coral produces and the results reveal that the endangered and Mediterranean endemic orange coral hosts an important macrofaunal assemblage. Expand
Biodiversity and density of subtidal benthos of an oceanic tropical island (a comparison within the Pacific Ocean)
TLDR
Comparisons with previous studies in the TPO indicate that islands like Isla del Coco have high numbers of taxa and diversity than those of the mainland, but lower density, however, this value is influenced by the sampling methodology. Expand

Tanaidacea (Tanaidacea: Crustacea) from Brazil. IV. A new genus and two new species from the family Leptocheliidae
TLDR
One new genus appears to be closely related to Konarus-Parakonarus-Pseudoleptochelia complex of species anddiffers mainly in the extremely elongated habitus of the male, Intermedichelia jesseri, which is here included in the family LeptOCheliidae. Expand
Discovery of a new genus of tanaidacean (Crustacea: Tanaidacea: Mirandotanaidae) found associated with a deep-sea terebellid polychaete
TLDR
During a survey of the deepsea benthic community in the Florida Straits off the Bahamas, Terebellatanais floridanus, a new genus and species of a tanaidomorphan tanaidacean was recovered at a depth of 545 m from the oral cavity of the terebellid polychaete Biremis blandi, suggesting that T. floridas may be a symbiont of B. blandi at least during part of its development. Expand
Two new species of Heteromysini (Mysida, Mysidae) from the island of Madeira (N.E. Atlantic), with notes on sea anemone and hermit crab commensalisms in the genus Heteromysis S. I. Smith, 1873
TLDR
Morphological differences suggest that commensalism of Heteromysis species with hermit crabs has independently evolved in the (sub)tropical shelf areas of the Indo-Pacific, E. Pacific, and Atlantic oceans. Expand
A new genus and two new species of leptocheliids from the marine shallow waters of Indonesia (Crustacea: Tanaidacea: Tanaidomorpha)
TLDR
A new genus and two new species of leptocheliids from the marine shallow waters of Indonesia are described and illustrated and the main characteristics of the new genus consist in the size and configuration of uropod (short and thick) and of the distosternal seta of pereopods III and IV carpus. On some shallow-water Tanaidomorpha (Crustacea: Peracarida: Tanaidacea) of Chilean fjords, with description of a new species of Zeuxoides Sieg, 1980
TLDR
Species sampled from shallow rocky bottoms of Chilean fjords are investigated, and morphological and taxonomic considerations included, and a new species of the Tanaidae, Zeuxoides tronco- soi sp. Expand
THE TANAIDACEANS (ARTHROPODA: PERACARIDA: TANAIDACEA) OF SÃO MIGUEL, AZORES, WITH DESCRIPTION OF TWO NEW SPECIES, AND A NEW RECORD FROM TENERIFE
TLDR
An attempt is made to investigate the provenance of the Azorean tanaidacean fauna, although the general lack of data from the North-east Atlantic precludes any reasonable interpretation other than some possible links with the Mediterranean. Expand
New Leptocheliidae (Crustacea: Tanaidacea: Tanaidomorpha) from Australian seagrass and macro-algal habitats, and a redescription of the poorly-known Leptochelia ignota from Sydney Harbour
TLDR
A new genus (Poorea n. gen.) and five new species collected from shallow macrophyte habitats are diagnosed and a rede-scription provided for the enigmatic tanaidacean Leptochelia ignota on the basis of specimens collected near the Sydney type locality. Expand
The tanaid Hexapleomera robusta (Crustacea: Peracarida) from the Caribbean manatee, with comments on other crustacean epibionts
TLDR
During a long-term survey on the biology and distribution of the Caribbean manatee Trichechus manatus manatus Linnaeus in Mexican waters, parasites and epibionts were collected from 47 individuals that were captured for tagging in two bay systems, revealing highly significant differences of infestation rates. Expand
A New Subgenus and Two New Indo-West-Pacific Species of The Leptocheliid Genus Pseudonototanais Lang, 1973 (Crustacea: Tanaidacea: Tanaidomorpha)
TLDR
Six species of Pseudonototanais are now recognized, three within each of the two subgenera, and an identification key for both males and females of the genus Pseud onototanis is presented. Expand
Associations between amphipods (Crustacea: Amphipoda) and sea anemones (Anthozoa: Actiniaria)
TLDR
Amphipod-sea anemone associations have evolved independently many times and do not seem to be of great evolutionary antiquity, although they usually do not occupy the entire geographical and ecological range of their hosts' distribution. Expand
