A new species of cyst nematode, Cactodera torreyanae sp. n., parasitising romerito plants, Suaeda torreyana (Chenopodiaceae), found in highly saline soils in Texcoco, Mexico, is described. The new species is morphologically and molecularly related to C. weissi, from which it differs in smaller fenestral diam., longer body and shorter tail lengths of second-stage juveniles (J2) and to C. rosae, from which it differs in smaller cyst size, longer body length of J2 and the presence of a smooth… Expand

Figures and Tables from this paper

Cactodera chenopodiae (Nematoda: Heteroderidae), a new species of cyst nematode parasitizing common lambsquarter (Chenopodium album) in Liaoning, China.
TLDR
Although morphometric comparisons with additional Cactodera species show the overlapping of diagnostic morphological characters, phylogenetic analyses based on both rRNA genes support C. chenopodiae n. Expand
A new cyst-forming nematode, Cactodera tianzhuensis n. sp. (Nematoda:Heteroderinae) from Polygonum viviparum in China with a key to the Genus Cactodera
TLDR
The phylogenetic analyses based on ITS-r DNA, D2-D3 of 28S-rDNA clearly revealed that the new species formed a separate clade from other Cactodera species, which further support the unique status of C. tianzhuensis n. Expand
First Report of Carrot Cyst Nematode Heterodera carotae in Mexico: Morphological, Molecular Characterization, and Host Range Study.
TLDR
It was shown that using presently available molecular tools it is not possible to make an accurate differentiation of H. carotae from H. cruciferae, which is an example of importance of combination of several methods for the correct identification of cyst nematodes. Expand
Plant Parasitic Nematodes and Management Strategies of Major Crops in Mexico
TLDR
In Mexico, damages and losses are caused mainly by lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp. and Radopholus similis), the stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), root knot nematODE (Meloidogyne spp.), false root knot Nemesis (Nacobbus aberrans), cyst nem atodes (Globodera spp). Expand

Vittatidera zeaphila (Nematoda: Heteroderidae), a new genus and species of cyst nematode parasitic on corn (Zea mays).
TLDR
DNA analysis suggests that Vittatidera forms a separate group apart from other cyst-forming genera within Heteroderinae. Expand
Cactodera salina n. sp. from the Estuary Plant, Salicornia bigelovii, in Sonora, Mexico.
TLDR
Cactodera salina extends the morphological limits of the genus by having a tuberculate egg surface and shares the character of a smooth egg with C. amaranthi, C. weissi, and C. acnidae. Expand

BELONOLAIMUS MALUCEROI SP. N. (TYLENCHIDA: BELONOLAIMIDAE) FROM A TROPICAL FOREST IN MEXICO AND KEY TO THE SPECIES OF BELONOLAIMUS
TLDR
A new species of the genus Belonolaimus was collected in a tropical forest at La Mancha, Experimental Ecological Station of the Ecology Institute, Veracruz State, Mexico and confirmed a unique status for B. maluceroi sp. Expand
Phylogenetic Relationships of Globodera millefolii, G. artemisiae, and Cactodera salina Based on ITS Region of Ribosomal DNA.
TLDR
Phylogenetic analysis indicated that, based on the ITS rDNA data, G. millefolii and G. artemisiae are more closely related phylogenetically to the Cactodera species than to other nominal Globoderaspecies. Expand
Identification, phylogeny and phylogeography of circumfenestrate cyst nematodes (Nematoda: Heteroderidae) as inferred from analysis of ITS-rDNA.
Some 134 ITS rRNA gene sequences for circumfenestrate cyst nematodes and two sequences for non-cyst nematodes of the family Heteroderidae, of which 46 were newly obtained, were analysed byExpand
MOLECULAR IDENTIFICATION OF CYST-FORMING NEMATODES (HETERODERIDAE) FROM IRAN AND A PHYLOGENY BASED ON ITS-RDNA SEQUENCES
TLDR
RFLP and sequences of ITS-rDNA of 45 populations of cyst-forming nematodes collected from different parts of Iran were analysed and identified as representatives of 21 species, corresponding to morphological and morphometric identification of the populations. Expand
Phylogenetic relationships within the cyst-forming nematodes (Nematoda, Heteroderidae) based on analysis of sequences from the ITS regions of ribosomal DNA.
TLDR
ITS sequence data are appropriate for studies of relationships within the different species groups and less so for recovery of more ancient speciations within Heteroderidae. Expand
Phylogenetic Relationships Among Selected Heteroderoidea Based on 18S and ITS Ribosomal DNA.
TLDR
Combined sequences comprised of DNA from part of the conserved 18S ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) plus the complete ITS rDNA segment were more similar to analysesbased on the ITS data alone than to analyses based on the 18S data alone. Expand
