Abstract:An isotope of the element 105 with mass number 259 has been produced via the reaction 241Am(22Ne, 4n)259Db at Elab = 118 MeV. The reaction products were transported and collected using the helium-jet technique and the rotating wheel apparatus. The α-decays of the products and their daughter nuclides were detected by a set of Si(Au) detectors arranged ingeniously. The Z and A of the nuclide have been unambiguously identified by the genetic relationship between the new activity and the…

Structure of the new nuclide (259)Db and its alpha-decay daughter nuclei

The structure of the new nuclides discovered recently in the Am-241(Ne-22,4n) reaction, (259)Db, and its alpha-decay chain are systematically studied in the relativistic mean field (RMF) approach

Nuclear isomers in 259Sg and 255Rf

The production and radioactive decay of 259Sg and its daughter products were investigated using α-decay spectroscopy and spontaneous-fission measurements. The isotope was produced in the

Decay of dinuclear systems formed from dubnium

The radioactivity of the superheavy nuclei 250−275Db is studied and presented using the Coulomb and proximity potentials. The half-lives corresponding to different decay modes such as α, cluster

New superheavy element isotopes: ²⁴²Pu(⁴⁸Ca,5n) ²⁸⁵114.

The new, neutron-deficient, superheavy element isotope ²⁸⁵114 was produced in ⁴⁸Ca irradiations of ²⁴²Pu targets at a center-of-target beam energy of 256 MeV (E*=50  MeV). The α decay of ²⁸⁵114was

Production of proton-rich nuclei around Z = 84-90 in fusion-evaporation reactions

Abstract.Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, production cross sections of proton-rich nuclei with charged numbers of Z = 84-90 are investigated systematically. Possible combinations

Synthesis of elements 115 and 113 in the reaction **243Am+**48Ca

The results of two experiments designed to synthesize element 115 isotopes in the {sup 243}Am+{sup 48}Ca reaction are presented. Two new elements with atomic numbers 113 and 115 were observed for the

Recent trends in the determination of nuclear masses

The mass of the nucleus, through its binding energy, continues to be of capital importance not only for various aspects of nuclear physics, but also for other branches of physics, notably

The nuclear structure of heavy-actinide and trans actinide nuclei

▪ Abstract One can extract unique information about the nuclear interaction from the study of the heaviest elements. They exist solely on the basis of quantum effects, which create a barrier against

Nuclear structure features of very heavy and superheavy nuclei—tracing quantum mechanics towards the ‘island of stability’

The quantum-mechanic nature of nuclear matter is at the origin of the vision of a region of enhanced stability at the upper right end of the chart of nuclei, the so-called ‘island of stability’.
