Abstract Using six MMPI scales and a multivariate discriminant analysis, the question was asked whether differences existed between nonsuicidal and threatened, attempted, and committed suicides. The results indicated that there were significant differences between the mean score of the four groups. The application of the various identification rates to populations with different suicidal base rates and the implication of the findings for the prediction of different types of suicidal behavior…
Identification of suicide attempters by means of MMPI profiles.
TLDR
Multivariate analysis of variance and cluster analysis failed to identify differences in the MMPI data of suicidal and nonsuicidal patients, and discriminant analysis produced a modest degree of differentiation that generally was maintained in the cross-validation.

Summary Suicidal patients were compared with nonsuicidal patients based on symptomatology observed upon admission to the hospital. Suicidal Ss were more anxious and depressed than controls and
Identification of Suicidal Episodes with the MMPI
TLDR
It is suggested that it may be possible to identify a suicide state with the MMPI, but further research should precede clinical application of these findings.
MMPI ratings of suicide risk.
TLDR
Clinicians could not identify suicide and nonsuicide patients from their MMPI profiles, and the ratings of the eight suicide variable did not differentiate suicide and non-suicide patients.
Women who Threaten Suicide; Evidence for an Identifiable Personality Type
TLDR
Female subjects who had threatened but never attempted suicide were compared by means of psychological tests to other suicidal and nonsuicidal criterion groups to hypothesized that persons who threaten suicide but do not carry out these threats may be characterologically different from the other criterion groups.
Model for the Prediction of Suicidal Behavior
A three-factorial model for the prediction of suicidal behaviors has been proposed. This model allows both the integration of past research findings and the generation of new propositions regarding

TLDR
A two-tier method for evaluating imminent danger among adolescents and coping ability is assessed by having youths promise in writing not to try suicide, compliment themselves and others, assess their feelings, and develop a plan for dealing with suicidal circumstances.
Burdensomeness, Belongingness, and Capability: Assessing the Interpersonal–Psychological Theory of Suicide With MMPI-2-RF Scales
TLDR
This study attempted to expand IPTS research via Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory–2–Restructured Form correlates by inspecting associations between the IPTS constructs and the substantive scales of the MMPI-2-RF and exploring the utility of M MPI- 2-RF scale–based algorithms of the IP TS constructs.
