Optically based assays have traditionally been used to quantify cancer cell proliferation and cytotoxicity in response to chemotherapeutic agents. Cellular micro-impedance measurements provide complementary information that is a function of cellular adhesion and membrane properties. The ability to simultaneously acquire both optical and micro-impedance data has significant synergistic diagnostic potential.
