Increasing rate of chronic conditions has not only resulted in lower quality of life for many but also increased the personal and societal burden. The growing interest in personal health supervision could help to prevent detect, avoid and comply therapy with these chronic conditions if implemented in daily life activities. Since multiparametric health monitoring is not a job for a single sensor, there needs to be a system that could integrate patient’s on-body as well as personal environmental…

Skin Electrode Impedance of Textile Electrodes for Bioimpedance Spectroscopy

Bioimpedance Spectroscopy (BIS) has several applications in the medical field, such as fluid and body composition monitoring. In order to perform monitoring at home, a wearable solution would be an

Ambulation Analysis in Wearable ECG

Examines the viability of wearable ECG in cardiac monitoring and Bridges the gap between hardware and algorithmic developments with chapters that specifically discuss the hardware aspects and their corresponding calibration issues.

Combined assessment of beat-to-beat micro-variability and signal-averaged ECG parameters

It is concluded that the combination of de- and re-polarization variability with the static QRS duration markedly improves the detection of patients with inducible ventricular tachycardia (VT).

A multirate architecture with linear phase low-pass filter working at low sampling rate is presented for removal of the baseline wander and the optimal decimation factor with respect to complexity and filter delay is determined.

Temperature and cardiovascular mortality

Seasonal fluctuations in cardiovascular events are greater in Britain than in some other countries with wider temperature variations and colder winters, and this suggests that the excess winter deaths may be preventable.

Cold weather and myocardial infarction.
